Tanker Crushes 2 Soldiers At Okigwe Checkpoint In Abia

TANKER CRUSHES 2 SOLDIERS
        2  soldiers were crushed to death on Thursday evening by a petrol tanker at a check-point at Leru junction in Umunnechi Local Government Area of Abia State. 
                 The driver of the tanker laden with petrol was also said to have been burnt to death when the tanker caught fire in the accident which occurred on the Enugu-Okigwe-Port Harcourt expressway.
 
The trailer was said to be coming from Okigwe end on high speed to  Enugu  and on approaching the Army check-point at Leru junction applied brake but the brake failed  and it ran  into the soldiers at the check-point and other vehicles.
The tanker was said to have caught fire immediately burning other vehicles and injuring many others.
Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji has condoled with the Army authorities over the death of the two soldiers. He described their death as mostm painful.
Governor Orji advised motorists plying the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway to desist from over speeding and to slow down at road blocks to avoid accidents.
