Osun State--- Aregbesola Kicks Off Re-Election Campaign

Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has on Tuesday begun his re-election campaign in Ile-Ife, the home town of his opponent from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Aregbesola, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), arrived at the premises of the Government Technical College in Ile-Ife at 5.45pm. He was accompanied by his wife, Sherifat, and members of the State Executive Council.

The large crowd of people that gathered for the rally were drawn from both Lagos and Osun states, The Sun reports.

Aregbesola  said he wanted to serve another term "to entrench good and responsive governance" in the state. He stated he was confident in the August 9 election victory as his administration had recorded numerous achievements during almost four years in office.

"By the time we finish 2014 election, none of the opposition would come near polling booths again, because they would be roundly defeated. We have constructed 50.7 kilometres of road in Ife senatorial district alongside other projects capable of impacting positively on the masses," said Aregbesola. "APC is unstoppable in Osun," he added.

He called on the Nigerians to vote out the PDP at the centre, saying the ruling party had brought untold hardship and victimisation to the country.

Meanwhile, the PDP chairman in Osun, Ganiyu Olaoluwa, said Aregbesola was being boastful on failure with his rented Lagos crowd, adding his party would never mobilise crowd for any of its campaign in the state.
