The first set of contestants to be on probation at the ongoing MTN Project Fame performed with gusto on Saturday in an attempt to secure their stay in the academy.
After the cheers and applauses that followed Shola’s second performance of Michael Jackson’s ‘You Are Not Alone’, Clement’s rendition of Michael Bolton’s ‘You Don’t Know What’s Like’; Emeka crooning to Bryan Adam’s ‘To Love A Woman’ and David’s improved delivery of Fela’s ‘Lady’, it was the latter who became the first evictee of the 7th edition of West Africa’s most popular music reality show.

In a tribute to the late American pop queen, actress and model who died in February 2012, the remaining twelve contestants not on probation had performed a medley of Whitney Houston’s great hits to a rousing ovation from the delighted audience.

When the result of votes from the entire West Africa audience was finally announced, Clement emerged top. Shola was the judges’ preference while Emeka was the overwhelming favourite of the other contestants. Consequently, David was evicted.

David Olowojoba who hails from Ondo State, Nigeria, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity of a place in the academy, even if not for as long as he would have wished. He assured his fans that he would keep working hard to break into the mainstream music industry
