- About the Scheme
The Federal Ministry of Communication Technology in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency has initiated a Computer Ownership Scheme (COS) to enable registered students of Nigerian universities to acquire a new laptop with top-notch configuration.
The Scheme aims to:
- Facilitate students (undergraduates) ownership and accessibility to computers;
- Boost knowledge or build capacity through internet-available educational resources; and
- Enhance the use of personal computers nationally.
- Guides for Applicants
- Registered students have access to a TEN THOUSAND NAIRA (N10, 000:00) grant which will serve as a deposit (for the pay-at-once option) or equity contribution (for the loan option) towards the acquisition of the laptop.
Interested students are to register at Computer Ownership Scheme (COS) Portal and select preferred payment method based on the options of paying at once or in instalments. Specify either of the two.
They are to verify their academic details through their universities.
Their parents/guardians (sponsors) would be notified of the proceeding of their applications via email.
The sponsors would choose a bank to apply via the link provided and visit a branch of the bank to apply.
After appropriate review of the application, the bank approves it.
The laptop would be delivered thereafter
