An innocent looking teenager in California has proved that looks can be deceptive as he is suspected of viciously assaulting an elderly woman.
14-year-old Raymond Miranda and an accomplice, who is 15, are said to have broken into a retirement community and attacked an 87-year-old woman.
The boys beat up their victim, sexually assaulted her and poured bleach all over her causing serious injuries.
The victim, 87, had been sleeping when she woke around 3 a.m. to find the intruders burglarizing her residence.
The teens allegedly beat her around her face and head, poured enough bleach over her to cause burns and blindness and sexually assaulted her, the source in the desert city about an hour east of Los Angeles said. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
Officers responded to the scene and used a bloodhound in their search. It appeared the intruders also
vandalized cars in the parking lot of the gated Camelot Independent Senior Living Community, cops said.
Investigators quickly narrowed their search to a 15-year-old suspect who tried to flee on foot when confronted in the area later that day. That teen was taken to Riverside County Juvenile Hall after a brief struggle with officers, police said.
Further investigation and surveillance video led cops to identify Miranda as the second suspect.
They took the unusual step of issuing a “wanted” poster with the teen’s name and photo this week because they considered him a possible threat to the community, police said. The poster said Miranda was wanted for torture and attempted murder.
