Nigeria Sportsman gets gold after Malaisian winner is tested positive to a dope test.
Malaysia
Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship was held in November 2013, and
Kalu King, competing in 62kg Junior men’s category, won a silver medal.
The gold medals were taken by two lifters from Malaysia, who had just
now been proven to be tested positive to a dope test.
This news is proven by Paul Coffa, Secretary General of the CWF, Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation.
He had sent an e-mail confirming Kalu’s win to Nigerian Weightlifting
Federation. He also mentioned that the medal would be given to him at
the Commonwealth Games in Scotland – Glasgow 2014.

President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation had rushed to
congratulate King Kalu for becoming a gold medal winner. Kalu was also
promised to be rewarded just as other gold medalists of the event. The
President of Nigeria Weightlifting Federation also said he was pleased
to hear about another win but will definitely commend the IWF to be more
thorough.
Total
results of the Championship in Malaysia included four gold trophies,
eight gold medals, three silver medals and three bronze medals. Team of
Nigeria ended up first in the medal table in female category.
Nigerian
athletes keep on bringing good news as they collect large number of
medals in every games and competitions they take part in. Nigerian
paralympics team managed to collect 12 medals including 6 gold ones in
Paralympic Games in London, 2012. Way to go!
