Tragedy struck in Lagos state on Tuesday after a truck ran into bystanders along the Apapa-Oshodiof the state killing at least five people and injuring over seven others.
The petroleumwho crushed the bystanders who were on the Oshodi Oke bridge to death while injuring over seven injured sustain different degrees of injuries sped off after the accident.
There was a gridlock due to the accident but the Lagos StateAuthority, led by Commander Koleosho were present at the scene to help and ensure there was free flow of traffic.
According to an emergency official said, “Around 7.45, a petrol tanker coming from Anthony inward Mile 2,five bystanders along Oshodi Oke bridge to death.
“The truck also injured over seven others. Most of the dead victims had crushed skulls but we were able to evacuate their bodies.
“A woman we even rescued died on the way to the hospital. It is really pathetic and the driver did not also stop.
“We don’t know if the accident was caused by a sleeping driver orbut we are warning people not to stand on that bridge as there is no bus stop there.”
