Photos-- See The Twin Beams from The World Trade Center Towers Tribute in Light

The Twin powerful beam light was positioned on the roof near where the world trade center stood in honor of the souls that went down with it on September 11. The light memorial reaches four miles skyward, according to the Municipal Art Society, a nonprofit group that orchestrates the $500,000-a-year project.

The twin light is a solemn promise that the nation would one day rebuild. Since that first evening, "Tribute in Light" has become one of the world's most powerful displays of remembrance and perseverance. A work of public art produced by the Municipal Art Society of New York, the two beams can reportedly be seen by a 60-mile radius on a clear night, from Brooklyn to the Bronx, Queens to Staten Island, and Wall Street to Jersey City.
