Chibok Update-- More On The Fate Of Pregnant Girl Dumped By Boko Haram

The Chairman, Chibok community in Abuja, Tsambido Abana, made an update on the fate of a pregnant young girl suspected to be one of Chibok girls kidnapped by the vicious Boko Haram sect between April 14-15, 2014.

The chairman disclosed that the girl, who was allegedly dropped by the militants not far from Mubi, Adamawa State, is currently in military custody. The victim wandered in the forest for about three days before being rescued.

Abana told PremiumTimes that the victim was receiving treatment in a police hospital im Yola. He added that the girl, who identified herself as Suzanna Ishaya, was not in the list of 178 names released by CAN so some doubts on her real identity remain. The same situation remains with her real age.
The community chairman also did not confirm whether the girl, Suzanna, escaped like some of the Chibok girls did in the past, or she was dropped and abandoned by the group. Abana added that the Nigerian Army supervises the process of medical attention.
Commenting on the report that the girl had 4-month-long pregnancy Mr. Abana said:
“Even the pregnancy issue [for the Chibok community], we don’t want to talk about it because of the stigmatisation.
“The most important thing is that she is alive,” the chairman concluded.
Abana complained that the GSM network has not been working properly. This prevented asking Chibok parents to identify Suzanna and get more answers on the true identity of the pregnant girl.
However, the community chairman expressed optimism that in the following couple of days contact with the parents and the clarification would be completed.
It would be recalled that a swap as per formula 19-30 (19 key Boko Haram commanders for 30 Chibok girls, 15 Christian and 15 Muslim) is in the process of negotiations. The lists with names are already available. However, the final decision will be made after Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
