Enugu State government yesterday seized a helicopter belonging to the Aero Contractors for landing at the Governor’s Lodge without approval.
According to sources at the Lodge, the helicopter caused panic at the Government House as workers were said to have scampered for safety on sighting the helicopter. Security operatives attached to the Government House cordoned off the area when the flight landed and arrested the operators.

33-year-old Woman Throws 14-month old Baby Under a lorry After Argument With Husband

A baby girl has lost her life in a tragic set of circumstances after her mother threw her and her older brother into a busy road.
The 14-month old girl was then crushed by a lorry but her brother was quickly rescued by a passer-by.

Fetish Pot Spotted At Benue State Government House Makurdi

There was panic among staff and security personnel on Tuesday after a mysterious pot containing fetish things was spotted at the Benue State Government House roundabout in Makurdi.
According to sources, the pot which contained palm oil, pork meat and something that looked like red kola nut was seen as early as 4am and it is believed it may have been dropped there during the hours.

When news of the mysterious pot got to the government house, most of the staff were said to have locked themselves in, the governor’s personal aides reportedly refused to come out of their offices.

A 23 year old beautiful architect died while trying to save her fiancee from a burning flat in England.Sophie Rosser was returning from a birthday party by midnight when she noticed their flat was engulfed in flames .

Former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has handed car gifts to key senators, including Senate President David Mark, in order to ease his path to appointment as Nigeria’s new Aviation Minister.

President Goodluck Jonathan has promised the post of Aviation Minister to Mr. Obi who in mid-March finished his second term as governor. Mr. Obi, a leader of the All Peoples Grand Alliance (APGA), is in line to be rewarded with a cabinet post for his political loyalty to the incumbent president.

But Mr. Obi has been handing out cars and cash to senators after discovering that there was significant opposition to him within the ruling party.

After his exit from Government House, Awka, Mr. Obi’s name was touted as a potential government appointee, first as a replacement for Pius Anyim, a former senator and current Secretary of the Federal Government who is believed to be seriously weighing a governorship race in Ebonyi State. But several political heavyweights within the PDP moved against Mr. Obi, two sources in the party said. One source disclosed that several of the PDP’s top members, including its national chairman, voiced their stance that an original member of the party, specifically Jerry Ugokwe, should be tipped to take any post for which Mr. Obi was being considered.

Officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) operating in Edo State, on Tuesday announced that it sanctioned 14 companies during the first quarter of the year.
Speaking in Benin City, David West, Unit Head of the agency in the state, listed the companies sanctioned to include drug distribution outlet, pharmacy and patent medicine shops as well as food and cosmetic establishments.

"On the drug outlet, most of the drug distributors attracted sanctions because they were distributing controlled drugs such as Tramadol and banned drugs like Opthalidon" he said. "Food companies that were sanctioned were operating under poor hygiene practise. Sanctions were also slammed on companies that were producing cosmetics without authorisation from the agency".
