TRAGEDY: Truck Runs Into Bystanders, Crushes Five To Death In Lagos


Tragedy struck in Lagos state on Tuesday after a truck ran into bystanders along the Apapa-OshodiExpressway of the state killing at least five people and injuring over seven others.
The petroleum truck driver who crushed the bystanders who were on the Oshodi Oke bridge to death while injuring over seven injured sustain different degrees of injuries sped off after the accident.
There was a gridlock due to the accident but the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, led by Commander Koleosho were present at the scene to help save lives and ensure there was free flow of traffic.
According to an emergency official said, “Around 7.45, a petrol tanker coming from Anthony inward Mile 2,crushed five bystanders along Oshodi Oke bridge to death.
“The truck also injured over seven others. Most of the dead victims had crushed skulls but we were able to evacuate their bodies.
“A woman we even rescued died on the way to the hospital. It is really pathetic and the driver did not also stop.
“We don’t know if the accident was caused by a sleeping driver or brake failure but we are warning people not to stand on that bridge as there is no bus stop there.”
