Okocha Reveals Why His Daughter Will Never Play Football

Arguably, Nigeria's most popular football icon, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, has revealed why his daughter would not play professional football.

While speaking with 'Femi and The Gang' on Nigeria Info FM, the former Super Eagles's midfield maestro stated: "My son is focusing on his education for now and will play football at the right time. Though my daughter will never play professional football because they (female footballers) aren’t paid well enough."

The retired footballer, popularly called 'Jay Jay' by his numerous fans, also mentioned six football stars of all time he admired most.

Among them are retired Germany's goalkeeper, Oliver Khan, ex-Super Eagles defenders, Uche Okechukwu, Taribo West, Austin Eguavoen and Brazil’s Ronaldinho.
Late Nigerian striker, Rashidi Yekini, who scored Nigeria’s first-ever goal in 1994 World Cup also made Okocha's list.

Meanwhile, Jay Jay did not forget to mention the coach Stefanovic, who gave him his first chance at the Eintracht Frankfurt, as his favorite manager of all time.

When asked about his recent appointment as a #ShineOnNigeria ambassador, he said: "Being a passionate football fan is not easy because I am in that position now where your team’s performance can make or break your day.

"All thanks to Star Larger Beer for recognizing Nigerian football fans and giving us a voice to support our team."

Okocha was part of the Nigerian team that qualified and represented the country at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA.

Among some of the clubs he played for in abroad after leaving Enugu Rangers in Nigeria are Frankfurt in Germany, PSG in France, Bolton and Hull City in England.
