The assailants shot the officer, who is attached to the Hajj Camp Police Station, and then sped off on a power bike  on which they had come.

Leadership reports:

Confirming the incident, one Dr Alex Okoh of the Airport Health Authority, who witnessed the attack, said he was in an ambulance when he saw people running “helter-skelter. When I got down from the vehicle, I saw a man lying saw pool of blood.

“I immediately ordered the driver of the ambulance to take the policeman to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, for treatment.

The medical personnel, however, said she had no knowledge of what led to the shooting. The Hajj Camp Police Post did not know any better when contacted. The DPO and DCO were unavailable for comments and the officers on duty claimed they had no authority to brief the press about the issue.

When contacted, the police public relations officer at the airport, Dennis Ifijeh, told journalists that “the matter will be investigated once a complaint is lodged.”
