Graphic images reveal the horrific head injuries suffered by a dad-of-three when he was punched by a bouncer after an altercation at a pub.
Dad-of-three Scott Taylor was left permanently brain damaged and disabled after having his skull caved in by thug Neil Hotchkiss at Bar Station in Wellington, Shropshire.
Mr Taylor, 42, hit his head on the pavement after being punched by the bouncer in August 2012 because he refused to leave the bar.
Hotchkiss, a dad-of-eight from Telford, Shropshire, admitted causing grievous bodily harm at Shrewsbury crown court yesterday and was jailed for 16 months – a sentence that means he could be released in eight.
Mr Taylor’s daughter, Kirsty, who is also now his full-time carer, labelled the punishment as ‘an utter disgrace’.
‘My dad’s life is ruined, he can’t get up, he can’t get out of bed himself, he can’t even sit up himself,’ she said.
Mr Taylor was rushed to hospital where he was placed in intensive care and had to have his head reshaped using fat from his stomach.
‘He had blood clots and hemorrhages and was on life support for quite a long time. Until it was reconstructed it looked like a quarter of his head was missing,’ added his daughter.
Sentencing recorder Adrian Jack explained to Hotchkiss: ‘He will never make a full recovery. I have to accept, however, that you did not intend to cause this sort of injury.’
