There was a mild drama at the kirikiri area of Lagos state after a naval officer, Master Warrant Officer Unaji Benjamin Enejor allegedly used his car key to injure a Police Inspector Emmanuel Nbillahon on his left eye.
The incident reported to have occurred after the naval officer who was driving a Honda Shuttle car with number plate LSR 34 CE veered off the road and rammed into the Police officer's wife restaurant, destroying the wall of the shop in the process.
Meanwhile the Police Inspector, attached to the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos who narrowly escaped death with his wife were seated close to the restaurant when the accident occurred, confronted the naval officer attached to Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Oshodi, with service number M4351 insisted he must pay for the damages he caused but the latter snubbed them, identifying himself as a naval personnel.
This obviously did not go down well with the police and his wife as the wife of the police of officer minutes later rushed to Kirikiri Police division to lodge a complaint.
This led to an argument between the police officer who had identified himself to the naval officer and during the argument the Naval officer brought out his car key which he poked into the right eye of the Police inspector after which he sped off in his car.
The naval officer, however, ran out of luck after he was chased by sympathizers to an adjoining street where he was caught and taken to Kirikiri Police station where he was detained. The case was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
The police officer is currently receiving treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba where he is currently receiving treatment.
The spokespersons for the police and that of the Navy are yet to comment on the incident.
