Photo-- Children Accused Of Witchcraft in Akwa Ibom state


      The accused children
                Residents of Unyenge, Akwa Ibom state have accused three children of the same parents of witchcraft.
                 The three children named Shedrack Esin, 14; Israel Esin, 10; and Miracle Esin, 7 escaped being lynched by youths after they were rescued by African Children Aid Education and Development Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, which contacted the police.


According to Punch, the children became victims after their father, Mr. Etim Esin, who was also accused as being a Wizard was killed by some unidentified persons on Monday morning in Unyenge, Mbo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
The late Mr Etim Esin, it was gathered on July 2014 through his solicitors, petitioned the police that his life was being threatened by some people on the allegation that he was a wizard trying to use his witchcraft power to kill one of their brothers.
Meanwhile, Project Director, ACAEDF, Mr. David Emmanue on Thursday said the timely intervention of the police, saved the  children were believed that their father had passed the witchcraft to them from being attacked by the villagers.
According to Punch, the Late Etim was said to have been killed by unknown  assasins on September 3, 2014,in his home around 4am  when he went out to urinate.
However, the police in the area, however, said it could not establish if the death was in connection with the witchcraft allegation or not.
The police have reportedly handed over the three children to ACAEDF for care while investigation into their father murder and attempt on their lives continued.
Just recently it was reported that 55-year-old grandmother, Fatima Saraka Mohammed and two others have been arrested by men of the Anti-Homicide Squad in Niger State for slaughtering her 9-year-old grandson, eating his flesh and drinking his blood to satisfy the members of their witchcraft cult.
