Governor Sullivan Chime Redeploys Impeached Deputy Governor To Civil Service
Enugu State government has re-deployed Sunday Onyebuchi, the impeached deputy governor, to the state civil service.
Vanguard reports that the state governor,
Governor Chime Sullivan, made it known that his impeached deputy has been redeployed to the state service as a deputy director on Grade Level 15. It would be recalled that Onyebuchi was in the civil service before being appointed to political office by the Nnamani administration.
The governor made known at the swearing-in of his newly appointed deputy, Reverend Raphael Ifeanyichukwu Nwoye at the EXCO Chambers of the Government House, Enugu. The impeachment heralded Reverend Nwoye being cleared last Thursday by the House, as his oath of office was
administered by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Innocent Umezulike.
In his speech at the ceremony, Chime congratulated the new deputy governor, saying with his coming on board, the machinery of government would continue to run smoothly.
The governor said: “Drawing the analogy of a broken down vehicle, we have just replaced a bad spark plug, the vehicle is repaired and journey will be smooth again.”
The governor however made it known that the new deputy is a known person to him as they had both served together as commissioners in the previous administration. Chime expressed his optimism about the coming on board of the reverend saying he was sure that Rev Nwoye would bring his experience and background “not just as a Minister of God but as a fine gentleman”, to bear in the discharge of his duties.
Giving the details of why the reverend was picked as the best candidate for the position, Chime said: “What has happened, I believe it happened in the best interest of Enugu State and not only government.”
It would be recalled that few days ago, Mrs. Clara Chime, the wife of Enugu State governor who claimed she was forcefully kept at the Government House where she had lived with Governor Sullivan Chime last year, apologized for her actions, giving reasons why everything happened the way it did last year.
