A 19-year-old girl yesterday told a Senior Magistrates' Court sitting in Wuse, Abuja, that her Facebook friend lured her into prostitution.
The girl, of no fixed address, was arraigned before the court for stealing six handbags, three mobile phones and N40,000, the allegations she pleaded guilty to.
She said she committed the offence to gather money and go back to her state to register for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination. She pleaded with the court to be merciful to her.
The presiding Magistrate sentenced her to three months of imprisonment, but also gave the girl an option to pay N40,000 as fine. She was also ordered to return the stolen items to their respective owners.
